Causes of ConflictThere is always a cause that precedes conflict, and when opposing parties are hot under the collar and creating a scene, the cause is called upon to diffuse the situation. Nonetheless, because conflict is about competition, the competitors have a strategy in mind, so in the heat of battle or the frantic rush through a peace signing process, they will try to erase or distort the roots of the conflict and alter the situation towards a favourable outcome. Often the claimed cause is a red-herring, so the real cause is left to be fought over again after both feuding parties have licked their wounds.
