What’s on Offer?

Without getting religious and asking God, or getting too serious and having to pay a life coach for advice, ask yourself: what do you really want? Is it the new car, a home of your own, a stake in the world, or simply respect, pride, and a sense of purpose? In the office people get lost for weeks, decades and whole careers, simply earning money, filling time, waiting for guidance or inspiration to tickle their idle buttocks into action. Forget all that. People that move on do so because they see the prize, and before you can say ‘Hey! Where are you going?’ they’re halfway to having their hands on it.

Mostly it’s money, cold hard cash in your hand (like when you were paid in the Time Before Electronic Banking). But cash, however you get it, doesn’t magically appear either, and the means by which it is earned in the office becomes part of the prize itself.
